Local Environmental Sustainability Plans

Welcome to the University of Cambridge Local Environmental Sustainability Action Planning (LESP) tool.

This interactive platform enables you, senior leaders in Departments, Schools or Non-School Institutions, to build a custom plan tailored to your local context across five themes:

  • Buildings and grounds (using resources more efficiently and reducing demand)
  • Travel and agile working
  • Procurement and resource use
  • Intellectual leadership (promoting excellence in sustainable practices)
  • Governance and progress reporting

LESPs will ensure the alignment of institutional activity with all the University’s environmental sustainability ambitions. LESPs also contribute to our commitments under the Condordat for the Environmental Sustainability of Research and Innovation Practice by embedding environmental sustainability in research practice, culture, and approach.

Our approach, and this action planning tool, acknowledges that environmental impacts and opportunities to make a positive contribution will vary by department, so you are encouraged to tailor the plan to your specific context.

For more background information on the LESP approach, please refer to this page on our Environmental Sustainability Hub.

Having created your LESP, you can use the resources signposted within the tool to undertake the actions and monitor your progress.
